NEW TO THE OKANAGAN?
The Okanagan region is a very desirable place to live, but at the same time
there are challenges securing a professional job or career – at a fair
wage.
Over the years, the region has had high unemployment rates (in excess of 10%).
Now the unemployment rates have dropped below 6%. At first glance, jobs would
seem to be plentiful and that one would have no difficultly finding work.
There are labour shortages in agriculture (seasonal), production line,
hospitality, call centers and specific skilled trades. Wage rates range from
$9 to $12 per hour for many of these jobs.
CBD's experience, having worked with and coached thousands of clients,
shows those with a professional background (e.g. administration, IT
professional, management, sales, and financial) may take an average of 4 to 6

If you are thinking about moving to the area, please "look before you leap".
Carry out research on companies and sectors and allow at least 6 months to a
year to plan your move to the region.
